'within the realm of happiness'

just finished reading a great book called 'within the realm of happiness', by kinley dorji. a fantastic book for anyone interested in the social and economic changes taking place in bhutan. excellent recollections of bhutan's mystical history and colourful culture - all set alongside vignettes about the growing reality of social and economic development. i wish this place didn't feel like our (humanity's) last chance to get it right - it feels like so much is at stake. but, really, no matter how one looks at it, bhutan is inevitably tied to the rest of the world...there are no islands on this planet anymore.
